The service and staff were very nice and friendly. The hotel was clean but a little dated. Would be better if it had a... bit of TLC to bring it up to date.
Can't fault the breakfast and the poached egg was done to perfection 👌 lots of breakfast menu choices and copious amounts of coffee 😋 overall a pleasant stay and the views from the hotel are beautiful.read more
I booked myself in here as a reward half way through the Great Glen. I arrived early for my check in but was checked in... anyway and the owner welcomed me with a complimentary bottle of beer on arrival.
Unfortunately I fell sick had to end my trek here. The owners could not have been more accommodating, they allowed me to stay past my check out in the lounge untill i got picked up and offered me a new glass of water every time my glass was empty. They even lit the fire in summer for me. Cannot fault the hospitality at all.
The hotel boasts a drying room where I could hang my wet kit and allows it to drip dry overnight. If you are a walker, cyclist or a camper this is the place you want to go for that rest point.
I didn't eat there so cannot comment on the food but the service alone merits 5 stars
Have stayed a couple times , great hotel in a great location and awesome staff . Would not stay anywhere else while in... Fort Augustas . Good selection at breakfast and the food is perfect . Lovely small bar with a nice selection on local beers. Chris knows how to look after his guests 👍🏼read more
The fourth emergency service? When a mechanical failure threatened our long distance off road cycle tour, we were lucky... that Chris and Johanna’s warm welcome was recommended. Their understanding, comfortable bed, hot shower and immediate kind offer of laundering of some rather smelly cycling clothes were gratefully accepted, with relief. A drying room, hearty breakfast and offers of help (along with a trip to Girvin Hardware / Cycles and Nevis Cycles) meant the next day’s riding was back on track. The thought of many more nights in a tent is now significantly less appealing, when compared with the homely and honest attraction of the Caley Hotel, but I’m sure that we’ll get used to it again. Besides, I look forward to returning with my family, who’d understandably prefer to stay in comfort, rather than travel wild. Thank you Chris.read more
Our stay at this very cute hotel was a month ago, and it was great, even in this crazy times. We did a round trip and... so the booking was very spontaneous. I booked directly via telephone and only that call was very cordial only the welcoming was even better. We got tea for welcoming and I never had a better stay at a hotel! If we ever come again to Scotland we will book again there! So I only can recommend this hotel! Book it directly and make your own experience! You won't regret it! Many greetings from Bavaria 😊read more
Very warm welcome from the staff, hotel is one of the older ones but is very very nice, bedroom was nice and spacious... with an extremely comfy bed spotlessly clean, big bathroom with a shower over the bath, the breakfast was very good and what can I say about the evening meal, has got to be one of the best haggis starter and steak mains I have ever had, would definitely recommend this hotel and the sights are not too bad as wellread more
A serious old style hotel with two superb hosts. Chris really looked after us and not only did we have a great chat but... the service left nothing out. Johanna who did the cooking produced the best Salmon that I have ever eaten. The room was spotlessly clean and roomy. Once again I could easily go back for a stay. The hotel was extremely clean with great service. It is run by Chris and Johanna. It was great to talk with Chris... during breakfast and he always had good advice about places to visit. Johanna is an excellent chef, as you can see in my photos. Couldn't be happier!read more
Booked for two nights, ended up staying for three. It's a lovely, traditional, hotel that's just up the road from the... canal. The room was spotless and quiet and the food was fantastic - I highly recommend eating here and if you like cheese, definitely have the cheese board. Chris is a great host and it's such a friendly environment, a lot of the guests are regulars and really easy to talk to. It made my stay in this lovely place all the better and I can't recommend it enough.read more
