Traveled with family this summer. Me, my Mrs, 16, 6, 4 yo girls. The place to stay is just amazing. All quied around,... nice to sleep, tidy rooms, close to go Fort William or Fort Augustus. Clean kitchen and showers for your needs at any time. The owner on reception always happy to help with any issues even you forgot to buy any cooking oil in the shop or so. To the end- it's lovely quied budget place whenever you travel alone or with family. Thank you Great Glen Hostel, we'll back again!read more
Great place to stay. Very clean room. Hot, powerful showers. Very well stocked kitchen with plenty of space to cook (4... separate hobs + 1 oven + microwave). Great drying room across the courtyard. Very friendly staff.
One thing to be aware of. We booked it for a night as we were doing the great glen canoe trail and wanted a night off camping. Whilst it is 200m as the crow flies from the canal, you can't get off at that point (steep banks, thick overgrowth) so you have to paddle to a pontoon further down. It's then a 15-20 minute walk to the hostel, including a short stretch along a busy road. It was fine as we didn't have lots of stuff and decided to leave our canoe locked up on the pontoon rather than portage it to the hostel, but something to bear in mind if you're booking it for the same reason.
Man who checked me in wasnt to helpful, handed me keys and that was pretty much it. Had to figure out myself where... everything was. On the good side vicky was lovely and friendly. Place is good to stay if doing the great glen way. I would stay here again. And if you want to wash your clothes it's cheap.read more
The receptionist was very nice, but the bed was horrible! It had a very soft mattress and the base was like a hammock.... Not to recommend for people with back problems.read more
Was a great stay! Went there on a school trip. Worked for what we were doing, and the activities that active highs... supplied were so much fun! Would recommend for an active trip. Only problem i had was the showers weren’t very powerful.read more
convenient, after a long walk through Clunes and previously along loch lochy. The beds are ok basic realy but a... totally welcome rest especially if it rains on you for 6 hours along the trail. There is food and drink available for reasonable prices, but there was free bread and cereals and a chance to fill up water bladers or bottles for the walk ahead, all for £20 a head .read more
We stayed in the 'family' room for three nights at the end of October. The room had 1 x twin bunk and another bunk with... a double on the bottom and single on the top. There was an en-suite shower room and toilet as well. The room was nice and warm and we slept comfortably. The hostel itself was looked after by Erin during our visit and she was a real credit to the place. Super friendly, she couldn't have done any more for us. Always smiling and great fun to be around. There was a drying room with washing facilities and the kitchen was well catered. I don't think I can suggest any improvements.read more
