We would like to take this opportunity to introduce ourselves as Natalie and Mark who have worked in the hotel sector and are devoted to making your stay as comfortable and memorable as possible.
We are situated on the edge of the picturesque Village of Fort Augustus which is a lovely 15-20 minute walk or 2 minute drive by car therefore providing an attractive B&B accommodation for those wishing to make the most of the magnificent local sights during peak season, and also to enjoy a relaxing break during the quieter months of the year. The picture below is an aerial view of Fort Augustus, which is a short walk or drive away from our B&B. You can see Loch Ness from Fort Augustus and Nessie may pop up for a wee photo!
Stayed at the Kettle House whilst cycling through Scotland in Aug 2020. Beautifully made-up rooms, amazing breakfast,... and probably the most helpful hosts I've ever had staying at a hotel. Their hospitality even extended as far as picking up two of our group who had ridden off by themselves and had damaged their bikes! If I could, I'd give it 6 stars.read more
Where do i start? This is the second time we've stayed at Kettle house, the first being a few years back. Before you... even enter the house you will be taken aback by their most wonderful garden! It is absolutley stunning with fairy gardens, a little bridge, beautiful bird houses and much much more. There is a gazebo with cards and a lantern you can sit in if you wish. Which is exactly what we done after our dinner with a bottle of bubbles :)
Nat and Mark are the most welcoming hosts and nothing is a problem. Even when we left without our key and locked ourselves out they were so helpful which alleviated a bit of the embarrassment (sorry again!) All covid precautions are in place and the most thoughtful touches of cupcakes in your room, a mini fridge and DVDs for you to watch really takes this place above the rest. Beds very comfy. Breakfast was spectacular with a fantastic choice of menu plus cereals, jams etc. Great veggie options too which was very much appreciated.
Despite seeing changes to Fort Augustus in terms of the tourism and campsite going (being changed into what looks like chalets). Kettle house really is a must stay place. Such a homely, relaxing and wonderful atmosphere. We would definitely recommend this to anyone looking to visit the area and hope to see Nat, Mark and wee Willow (pooch) again sometime in the near future.read more
Definitely a 6 star experience. The hosts have thought of everything and go the extra mile to make the stay great -... cupcakes in the room. Some rooms are up a steep staircase, but they are immaculately clean and had very soft towels - not the usual hotel type. A lot of thought has gone in to keeping the rooms and public areas covid secure. Good breakfast with lovely hampers on the table of everything you could want. Nice 20 walk through the golf course and along the canal into Fort Augustus. Lovely garden with separate seating areas and summer housesread more
Myself and the misses, and our dog, spent 6 great days here, and I must say that it was money very well spent.... Everything was just perfect, Natalie and Mark are a great team.
The B&B I feel is perfectly situated if you want to tour, say a 90 mile radius from Fort Augustus ( We did the Isle of Skye and back, not rushing it in 1 day ) You can also walk into the village in under 15 to 20 min's walk, via the main road, or take the scenic route via the golf course and canal.
I think the Loch at Fort Augustus is better than Neptune's Staircase in Fort William, the reason for this is because you can buy your fish and chips and take them to a seating area, and enjoy them in great surroundings. There are of course other eating outlets available to you too, and pubs as well.
Our room was comfortable and clean.
You get a choice of multiple breakfast variants, and the way it's presented is top notch. You must try the boiled egg and soldiers, just wait and see how it turns up, it's just brilliant, and it made us laugh. Our room had a small fridge and that's something you don't get in some hotels. Nothing was too much trouble, and it's blatantly obvious that Natalie loves dogs. There is a large garden that you are free to wander around anytime of the day or evening.
If you can find something to moan about here, then do yourself a favour, and stay at home.
Why stay in an overpriced hotel, when you can stay in a place that's home form home.read more
We arrived early and our room was ready for us so quickly unpacked. Natalie told us the picturesque walk into Fort... Augustus. Spent all afternoon and evening wandering around and then back to Kettle House . A good nights sleep in a comfy and clean room. Breakfast was very good. A surprise of the journey! Natalie welcomed warmly me at the front door, showing me all the facilities of the house.... Everything was well presented. The house and garden were well decorated with a lot of attention to details. I love the way they organise the bed with little Nessie on top. The surrounding are very quiet and peaceful. The dinning room is quite interesting with fish case. The breakfast is very good with their little change showing the difference to mainstream version. BTW I love that they put two lovely little cakes for the guests. Highly recommend.read more
